Now that the American elections are drawing to a close, there is no need to sweat any bullets when it comes to keeping child-care centers open. After more than 8-months of restrictions and cautious masking and sanitizing work surfaces, it has become reassuring to accept hope in a new vaccine on the horizon in tandem with this election year.  Some very reputed forces of human ingenuity have been hard at work in 2020 devising legitimate trial vaccines to circumvent transmission of Covid-19.

As a matter of fact, we have learned over the past few weeks, that there is a silver lining to all this.  An article that first appeared in The Wall Street Journal on October 14, 2020, reported on a study that showed that day-care centers are very low risk for Covid-19 transmission.  WSJ’s Robbie Whelan reported that children under 5 years old present virtually no-risk of transmitting Covid-19 to adults, according to a new Yale University study of more than 57,000 U.S. child-care providers.  This stipulated conclusion remains valid as long as child-care centers stay vigilant to sanitary guidelines like hand washing, small group sizes and staff wearing face coverings.

Let’s plan on moving on from this ongoing dilemma by taking caution.  This moment conveys the disorientation and frequent aimlessness we are all feeling. We as adults should remain productive and assume all responsibility by taking care of our young while taking due precaution.  Parents should not endanger others by going themselves inside day-care centers. Drop off’s and pick-up’s should be the preferred best practice in this atmosphere. This way the pre-schoolers are able to regain a partial hybrid learning regimen while being isolated and keeping their elders at a safe distance.  This plan of action will suffice until testing of a trial vaccine is approved so that it can safely be adopted and take off in early to mid 2021.
